comments: I don't live in your district, but am troubled by one of the candidates for this office. Chris Murphy's ads online and on some flyers have the quote, "That government is best which governs least," which it attributes to Thomas Paine. Problem is, that was Henry David Thoreau, and in his "Civil Disobedience." I'm waiting to see how many others around here recognize this. Some folks erroneously attribute that quote to Thomas Jefferson, but that's wrong, as well. Never heard anyone try to claim it came from Paine, though, and think this error doesn't speak well of Murphy - it's all over his web ads and his printed materials, too, so it's too late for him to correct it. What Thomas Paine did say, though, was "Lead, follow or get out of the way." Think Murphy needs to learn that lesson? Submit: Submit
