Larry Hargett, Candidate for State House #98
PRESS RELEASE
Hargett Gets Strong GOP Backing
Dorchester County Councilman Larry Hargett has been backed by 20 Executive Committeemen and Presidents of Dorchester County Precincts in his bid to win the State House District #98 seat in the June 8th Primary. County Republican Vice Chairman and Retired Air Force Brigadier General Jerry Black, who is a supporter of Hargett, announced today.
Vice Chairman Black said that the By-Laws of the County GOP are very specific "to monitor the performance of elected officials, keeping the public informed of their actions by any means available and to recruit candidates to oppose elected officials who do not support the principals of the Republican Party". He said that Ms Young, State House District #98 incumbent, has been separating herself for years from the principles of the party, most notably when she supported a liberal democrat for the South Carolina Supreme Court and with her strong opposition to the reforming of the State Employment Security Commission, an agency that has run amok of good management and financial decisions. He noted that she recently was given a grade of "F" by the South Carolina Club for Growth which based its ratings on critical economic and good government votes.
The 98th House District has all or part of 18 Precincts and Councilman Hargett received backing in 12 of these Precincts, in addition to the GOP Vice Chairman and two Area Vice Chairmen. In addition to the Precincts within State House District #98, 10 other Dorchester County Precinct Presidents and Executive Committeemen are also supporting Larry Hargett for State House #98.
